ALPS installation

ALPS supports three installation methods on Mac and Linux. Choose the one that fits your situation:

Most users should install the binary package. It is the fastest and easiest way to get ALPS running, requiring no compilation and no special system privileges.

Developers and advanced users who need full control over the build — for example to link against custom libraries, modify the source, or contribute to ALPS — should use the source installation.

HPC system operators and users on HPC clusters should use Spack, particularly if their system already manages software through Spack.

If you encounter trouble during installation, please file an issue or reach us on Discord — we will do our best to help.
