The ALPS software is constantly developed. Below you will find documentation for the most recent release, ALPS 1.3.4, as well as a growing documentation for the next big release of ALPS, dubbed ALPS 2.0, which will be released in the near future. The main new feature of ALPS 2.0 will include:

  • New build system using CMake simplifies builds and allows builds on Windows, the Cray XT5 and other platforms that were not supported before
  • Binary installer packages
  • Binary file format HDF5 uses less space and much faster I/O
  • Python-based evaluation and plotting tools are simpler, much more flexible and powerful
  • Integration with VisTrails workflow provenance system
  • New application: DMFT
  • New and more tutorials

More features, new applications, and scalability to petaflop-class machines are planned for ALPS 2.1
